Breathtaking beaches, outdoor concerts, and historic landmarks are all within easy reach from the Wyndham Garden Sebastian St. Augustine hotel.
ExploreOldCity.com was invited Friday morning to take a private tour of the brand-spanking new Wyndham Garden Sebastain Hotel located in the Oyster Creek Marina in downtown Saint Augustine. This place is so new the paint on the walls is still wet…almost.
I had the absolute pleasure of meeting with hotel GM Patti McRoberts, along with Sara and Christina, as they treated me to a delicious buffet breakfast, hot coffee, and a walking tour of the facilities.
The first thing that struck me about the new hotel was the European styling cues seen throughout. This could easily be the type of high-end hotel you would see while traveling in Spain or Germany, decor that blends in perfectly with the Spanish-flavored Old City that we call home.
The lobby was crisp and modern, but never cold. It felt like home from the moment I walked through the door. The dining room was bright and cheerful, and the staff super-friendly and accommodating.
Patti and Christina gave me a tour of the beautifully-appointed rooms, the smallest of which start at 500 square feet. I really loved the warm earth tones and teals that followed you everywhere you went. The bathrooms were white and clean with stacks of fluffy towels waiting to be put to use.
The official blurb from the Wyndham website reads: Our picturesque location offers scenic views and is minutes from downtown St. Augustine, where you can explore the Government House, purchase fresh goods from the public market, enjoy live entertainment, or attend city events. If you are visiting students in the area, we are near Flagler College, and we offer local shuttle service from 9am-4pm for a nominal fee. Northeast Florida Regional Airport (UST) is around 10 minutes from our location, while Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) and Daytona Beach International Airport (DAB) are both within driving range.
If you are expecting friends to come visit, and want to put them up in a place where they will be astonishingly-well cared for yet at a price that won’t break the bank, you will want to book them a room at the Wyndham. Whatever you need from coin-operated laundry, exercise room to beautiful, built-in swimming pool, you will find it all here.
I liked the new Wyndham so much that, even though I live right up the street, my Christmas present to myself is going to be a luxurious, overnight in a suite overlooking the pool. I highly recommend that you do the same.
