Okay, I’ve said this before, but Culinary Outfitters might be St. Augustine’s most delightful hidden gem. This restaurant is phenomenal.
It’s located a bit off the beaten path, but I believe the bistro at Culinary Outfitters just may be one of the very best dining experiences St. Augustine has to offer.
Culinary Outfitters serves fresh, local handcrafted food from around St. Augustine, prepared and served by a local family.
The portions are huge, the quality is impeccable, and the service is top notch.
Just look at my plate.
I mean, seriously, look at my plate!
When the waitress brought this out to me, I didn’t know whether to look at it, eat it, or dive into it. Needless to say, it’s a showstopper.
On this particular day, I was craving a sandwich, so I chose their Garlic Pressed Cubano. The bread was crispy and warm, infused with a garlic aioli. The bread melted in my mouth. The pickles on the sandwich were crisp and juicy, the ham, turkey, and pork were fresh and thick-cut, and the swiss cheese and mayonnaise perfectly rounded out the Cuban Sandwich taste. The garlic aioli warm-pressed on the bread was truly the cherry on top.
This sandwich was perfect. Perfect cut and perfect taste. For a side, I ordered their Culinary Classic Salad which was made up of fresh mixed greens, gingered almonds (that were so sweet and delicious, definitely my favorite item on the salad), juicy mandarin orange slices, fresh Gorgonzola cheese, green onion and a delicious house balsamic vinaigrette.
This meal was completely satisfying.
Culinary Outfitters has over 20 mouthwatering menu options. They also offer fresh weekly lunch specials including entrees, soups, salads, and fresh, made on premises, desserts. You really have to try them all.
In addition to maintaining a full service walk-in restaurant, Culinary Outfitters also provides catering for your next memorable affair. I attended an Oyster Roast they had catered just about a year ago, at the St. Augustine Shipyards, and it was as you might expect, wonderful.
Seriously, you have to try this place. It’s really that good.
